Carillon Recital

Speaker

John Hammond, CGNA

Duke Chapel's fifty-bell carillon is among the oldest and largest such instruments in the American South. Both the instrument and the recital series are named in honor of the late J. Samuel Hammond (1947-2021), university carillonneur emeritus, who played Duke's carillon from 1964 until his retirement in 2018.

Those attending the recital are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating on the Chapel Quad. Masks are required on the Duke campus in all indoor locations and strongly recommended in outdoor settings with a gathering of people. For more information, see the university's public health measures at https://returnto.duke.edu/public-health-measures/ .

Parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis in the Bryan Center Parking Garage at 125 Science Drive at a cost of $2 per hour. ADA parking is available in the parking lot immediately in front of the garage.
